This after-hours presentation will tell the historical and geographical story of barns in rural and regional Ohio. These evocative and conspicuous elements in the American Midwest invite many of us to remember loved ones and specific ways of living close to the land.
Presenter bio: Dr. Timothy G. Anderson is Associate Professor of Geography at Ohio University, where he's taught since 1996. His research interests focus on the historical settlement geography of the U.S., especially the production of regional and ethnic cultural landscapes, governmentality and spatialization theory, and the production of cultural landscapes associated with Germanic diasporic movements and communities. He received a Fulbright Fellowship in 2014 for research on Danube Swabian landscapes and communities in Romania.
