The Bemidji Public Library presents an author talk with Ken Smith, R.N., and a discussion of his memoir “We Walked Through The Valley: Reflections on a Career as a Hospice Nurse” on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at 1 PM at the Bemidji Public Library. Ken Smith came to nursing in the middle of his life after a very diverse career path, focusing on hospice care provided in patients’ homes. Having spent most of his life living in northern Minnesota, his oneness with nature has bolstered his belief that death is not necessarily our enemy. Nature has provided grounding and helps to heal the “soul pain” that can accompany end of life care.
