This month's Folklore Night features Gwyneth R. Harris. As always, this event is free and open to all ages.
Gwyneth Harris is an interdisciplinary scholar pursuing a PhD in folklore at Indiana University. Utilizing scholarship from folkloristics, history, anthropology, English literature, and the history and philosophy of science, Gwyn's research is centered around investigating creative expression and connection as knowledge-making processes. Primarily a children's folklorist, Gwyn is, above all, an advocate of play and absurdity.
In this talk, Gwyn will discuss her research on ghost stories as examples of developing cognitive and communicative competencies in children. One can expect brief introductions to disciplinary-specific concepts as well as examples of story texts. All to mean that all audiences are welcome!
