**Event Description: Monarch Tagging & Story Stroll**
Join us for a day of outdoor fun and education on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Bloomington Visitor Center (3815 American Blvd E, Bloomington, MN 55425) from 10 AM to 5 PM. Participate in community science by tagging monarch butterflies with our Monarch Tagging program, a drop-in activity suitable for all ages. Stop by our pop-up tent at any time to receive your supplies and help biologists track the monarch migration to Mexico. The activity is easy-active and takes place along a 0.25-mile trail, with options to go off-trail into tallgrass prairie. Long pants and closed-toed shoes are recommended, and sunscreen and bug spray are advised.
In addition, enjoy a Story Stroll along the edge of the prairie, where you can follow the pages of a children’s storybook at your own pace. The stroll begins just outside the front doors of the visitor center and offers more books for reading inside.
Both activities are entirely outdoors with easy access to restrooms and water fountains inside the visitor center. The area is wheelchair accessible with designated parking and drop-off points. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is dedicated to ensuring all participants can enjoy these events. For accessibility accommodations, please contact Oscar Hernandez at least ten business days prior to the event.
