Join us on Thursday, August 21, 2025, for a day of outdoor fun at the Bloomington Visitor Center (3815 American Blvd E, Bloomington, MN 55425) featuring two engaging activities: Monarch Tagging and a Story Stroll. From 10 AM to 2 PM, participate in Monarch Tagging, a community science initiative where all ages can help tag monarch butterflies to assist biologists in tracking their migration to Mexico. This is a drop-in program—no prior experience is necessary, and all supplies will be provided at our pop-up tent outside the main entrance. The activity takes place outdoors along a 0.25-mile trail, with an easy pace, and restrooms and water fountains available in the visitor center.
Simultaneously, from 10 AM to 5 PM, enjoy the Story Stroll, where participants can explore nature while following the pages of a children's storybook along a scenic path. This event is also open to all ages and requires no registration. It's an easy, leisurely activity with access to additional books inside the visitor center.
Both programs emphasize accessibility, with handicap parking, benches, and rest areas nearby. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and footwear and bring sunscreen and water. For any accommodation requests, please contact Oscar Hernandez at oscar_hernandez@fws.gov at least ten business days in advance. Don't miss this chance to connect with nature through science and storytelling!
