Join us at The Granville Center for the Arts for our highly anticipated Monthly Poetry Open Mic Night. Get ready to be captivated by an unforgettable evening of spoken word magic, expertly guided by our extraordinary host, the one and only Jared Mutchler. *****Need a spark of poetic creativity?***** July’s poetry prompt is “Independence.” A spark, a declaration, a journey—independence means breaking free, standing tall, or quietly discovering strength within. This month, we invite you to explore what it means to be truly free. Write about a bold leap you took, the quiet victory of choosing your own path, or the liberation found in everyday moments. Perhaps your poem will celebrate independence through fireworks, solitary adventures, defiant dreams, or the gentle freedom of simply being yourself. Let it be powerful, reflective, playful, or profound—but most importantly, let it resonate with your authentic voice. Poetry prompts are optional and just here to help. Feel free to express yourself with any piece you choose—even if it's completely unrelated to the prompt. **** Doors open at 6:45 PM, sign-ups will be open on a first-come, first-served basis for all aspiring poets, and poetry readings will commence at 7:00 pm. Whether you’re a polished poet or just starting, we invite you to share your original creations or classic favorites. If performing isn’t your thing, no problem! Come along, enjoy the performances, and cheer on the poets. Let’s make it a night to remember with great words and even greater company! Drinks and snacks will be provided. All ages are welcome.
