The Chisholm Downtown Revitalization Project (CDRP) was created as a grassroots effort to enhance the vitality of the heart of our city. Chisholm is a great place to be for so many reasons: the natural landscape, the cultural history, the kindness and originality of her citizens, and the potential for growth. The original organizers for the CDRP saw these qualities and wanted to seize upon an opportunity. The IRRRB, aware of work by Strong Towns and others that extolls the virtue of a vibrant downtown, put forth a grant opportunity for the area’s communities. They offered a 50,000 dollar grant match for tangible revitalization projects that impact the topography of the downtown. Half of this grant match can be in-kind services and volunteerism, which are an important part of rallying a community behind any worthwhile task.
