Ansel Adams (1902 – 1984) : Adams developed innovative techniques to create wider tonal range in black and white photography. His elegant portraits of the American West and its national parks heightened public awareness of the need to protect natural habitats. Adams became an advocate for environmental conservation and a founding member of the Sierra Club. Pippa Drew has a BFA from the University of Massachusetts, and in 1993 she received her Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College with a thesis in painting. After completing her MALS, she co-taught an interdisciplinary art and math class for 4 years at Dartmouth which was funded by the National Science Foundation. Pippa has also taught classes at AVA Art Gallery in Lebanon and the NH League of Craftsmen. Her work has been shown at the Painting Center in New York City and in several Upper Valley art galleries, including the Library Arts Center, Newport, NH, and the Main Rotunda at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital. She has enjoyed giving art history lectures at Valley Terrace, Harvest Hill, and Bugbee Senior Center since 2017.
