Greater Mille Lacs Chapter is hosting a farm tour and potluck supper at the farm of Gina Hlidek in Palisade. River Bend Gardens sits on the Mississippi River and enjoys gorgeous views of water, woods and fields. Gina focuses on growing asparagus, strawberries and fresh garden produce. She also makes small batch jams, pickles and hot sauces. Gina’s other interest is “Mavens Art Collective” which was born from friendship, creativity and a shared love for the land. She and several other local women in the collective work hand in hand with local farmers to transform natural fibers into artisan products. Every skein of yarn created carries the story of the animals that provided the fiber and the artists who created it. The Mavens Arts Collective is more than yarn makers. They are storytellers, collaborators and caretakers of the land. This event is open and free to all. No registration required. Feel free to bring a fully prepared, ready-to-eat dish to share for potluck, which will begin at 4:00 p. m.
